D2 Democrats pick Nichols

Hundreds of thousands of Oklahomans turned out for Tuesday's run-off elections, with Democratic voters choosing Tahlequah Mayor Jason Nichols over Clay Padgett to represent them in November against incumbent Markwayne Mullin for District 2 Congress.

Nichols, a lifelong Cherokee County resident, secured a landslide victory by winning 57 percent of the vote over Padgett, a newcomer to the state.
